Atlas House is an impressive Grade II listed stone-fronted building positioned on the corner of Cheapside & Kind Street in the City of London, housing major tenants Barclays and The Argyll Club.
West 1 were instructed to undertake the full external refurbishment and restoration of the building.
We take pride in our ability to successfully tackle even the most complex and challenging restoration projects.
The project had to be carried out in three phases to accommodate the annual Lord Mayors Show, as well as comply with strict City of London codes of practice.
To undertake the refurbishment work, we installed a fully designed scaffold that enabled us to access all elevations of the building. We then set about restoring the building's windows, which were fully stripped back, repaired, and redecorated.
To ensure minimal disruption to surrounding businesses, we scheduled all professional cleaning of the elevations using Torc and Doff systems during non-working hours. We meticulously repaired and restored the stone facades, as well as replacing lead flashings and any damaged architectural metalwork.
We fully stripped back and replaced flat roofs with new Langley Systems liquid coatings, and also replaced any missing or damaged slate.
This project was a great success and was completed with minimal disruption to the surrounding businesses. We are proud to have been able to restore this building to its former glory, whilst ensuring we worked within strict guidelines and codes of practice.
