Nexus Place is a modern office building situated in the vibrant area of Farringdon, with fantastic transport connections and easy access to central London. The project consisted of two distinct parts: a comprehensive CAT A fit-out on the second floor and a complete refurbishment of the main reception area.
Special attention was given to the design and construction of unique features, such as a rope feature wall that was suspended from the ceiling and fixed to bespoke timber battens at floor level. Additionally, an 8-metre oak slatted bench was specially designed and commissioned based on the architect's sketches.
Our scope of work for the CAT A instruction focused on the main office area and the modernisation of the WCs and lift lobby, while ensuring minimal disruption to the tenants on the other floors. All noisy works were carried out outside of business hours, and waste transfers were completed before 6:00 am to avoid disturbance.
To start, the flooring was stripped back to reveal raised access flooring which was later cleaned and polished in preparation for the new carpet to be laid to the tenant's specification. The office and lift lobby also received new lighting, and a full redecoration was carried out.
In the lift lobby, white pre-finished timber wall panels were installed, and a specialist floor covering was laid to give a more modern feel. The male and female WCs underwent a redesign and received bespoke designer sanitaryware and cubicles, including 'Kast' poured concrete sinks and distinctive orange taps. The walls were finished with 'Senso' grinded rock covering, giving an alternative finish around the sink area.
The reception area saw the removal of all existing lighting, and modern-looking fluorescent tube lighting was installed in a herringbone pattern to give a more contemporary look.
